Role of 18F FDG PET-CT in patients with intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma: A retrospective analysis from single centre

Description
Intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) is a primary liver cancer that often presents with metastatic spread at diagnosis. Positron Emission Tomography-Computed Tomography (PET-CT) is widely used in the staging and evaluation of ICC. This study analyses PET-CT findings in a cohort of patients with histologically confirmed ICC, focusing on hepatic and extra-hepatic disease patterns. The PET-CT findings in this cohort of patients with intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma illustrate the patterns of metastatic spread, with frequent involvement of the lungs and lymph nodes. Bone metastases were less common. These findings reaffirm the utility of PET-CT imaging in the staging and monitoring of ICC
