Parity splitting of doublets in odd nuclei

  • 1. Joint Institute for Nuclear Research, Dubna, Moscow oblast, 141980 Russia (Russian Federation)

Description

Parity splitting of doublets in odd nuclei is studied as a function of the height of the potential barrier separating two symmetric octupole minima and of the features of the odd particle. The analysis is based on a two-level fermion model that takes into account the coupling of the odd particle to octupole vibrations of a nuclear core. It is shown that the dependence of the above splitting on the barrier height is approximately described by the same function as in even-even nuclei. The magnitude of the splitting is determined by the strength of particle-core coupling and decreases as this strength becomes greater
