Experimental base for modular steam generators

Description

In 1964 work was started on the experimental sodium loop project called KAS. KAS I attained the following performace: input 300 kW, electric heater output 200 kW, max. sodium temperature 550 degC, max. sodium flow 12 l/sec, sodium quantity in the equipment 400 l, steam temperature 350 degC, max. operating steam pressure 100 kp/cm2. The construction of a test sodium circuit and the KAS II experimental equipment will lay foundations for the experimental base for modular steam generators for fast reactor power plants. In view of the growing demands on the experimental testing of heat technology, hydraulics, and safety calculations of the entire steam generator a test sodium stand will have to be built in the nearest future of at least 50 to 60 MW in capacity for testing whole sections of steam generators.
