Description
Order-disorder in FeCo are studied by X-ray diffraction, Moessbauer spectroscopy and saturation magnetization measurements in applied fields up to 10 T. Order is promoted by annealing at 550 C and the alloy is disordered either by high-temperature annealing at 980 C followed by a quench into cooled water or by ball- milling. A more disordered state is reached by ball-milling in our dynamical conditions than the one reported to be attained by annealing and quench even at rather high rates. A saturation magnetization as high as 2.51 μB/at. is obtained. (copyright 2011 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH and Co. KGaA, Weinheim) (orig.)
