Large-scale separation of transplutonium actinides by pressurized cation exchange
- 1. Savannah River Laboratory, E. I. du Pont de Nemours and Co., Aiken (United States)
Description
A brief history of pressurized ion exchange separations is presented and the advantages of pressurized cation exchange compared to conventional cation exchange are discussed. In reviewing present applications of pressurized cation exchange, a 100-g scale separation of 244Cm, a multigram-scale separation of transplutonium elements and a milligram-scale separation of transcurium elements are discussed in detail. Other applications of pressurized cation and anion exchange are also presented. (authors)
