Description
Nanostructured ZnO has gained considerable amount of attention due to its unique physical and chemical properties and due to its remarkable performance in the fields of optics, photonics and electronics. The Structural, optical and electronic properties of a series of pure Zinc Oxide (ZnO) and Chromium doped Zinc Oxide nanoparticles synthesized by low-temperature precipitation method at various concentrations (Zn1-xCrxO; (x = 0, 0.1, 0.2 and 0.3)), using Zinc Nitrate Hexahydrate and Chromium Nitrate Hexahydrate was studied. The synthesized nanoparticles were annealed at a particular temperature. The Structural property of the synthesized nanoparticles were analysed by XRD (X-Ray diffraction) and were confirmed to exhibit a crystalline hexagonal wurtzite structure with an average primary size of 55nm. The Morphological property was analysed by FESEM (Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope). The Optical properties like UV-Vis spectroscopy and FTIR spectroscopy (Fourier Transformed Infra-red spectroscopy) were analysed to calculate the changes in the optical activity of ZnO nanoparticles with the addition of Chromium. The Electrical property of the synthesised nanoparticles was analysed using Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS). (author)
