The migration, precipitation and dissolution of solute atoms in quenched Al-Ge, Al-Sn, and Cu-Ge alloys

  • 1. Tokyo Gakugei Univ., Koganei (Japan)

Description

Ageing behaviour of vacancies and Ge in quenched Al were studied by the positron annihilation Doppler broadening method. The dissolution of small unstable clusters of Ge atoms-vacancies were observed at relatively low temperatures. During the Ge precipitation, it was made clear that vacancies condense on incoherent Ge precipitates/ matrix interfaces. Same tendency was observed in Al-Sn alloys. The study on quenched Cu-Ge alloys was also reported. (author)
