Clear horizon for the French biogas. Bio-methane: tomorrow's gas network. Lot-et-Garonne is boosting methanisation. Bio-LNG stations: territorial projects

Description

Within the context of biogas production development in France, a first article comments experiments performed on the West Grid Synergy demonstrator to adapt biogas injection to biogas production seasonal variations. This demonstrator is the first European demonstrator of smart gas networks. Pressure could be adjusted at different points of the network, and the extension and interconnection of distribution networks would extend the area of biogas consumption. Even if a decree favours investments, the article outlines the lack of prospective vision by the government as producers state they will be able to provide 30 pc of biogas in the network whereas the energy policy objective is only 10 pc. A second article proposes an overview of the situation in Lot-et-Garonne where eight methanisation projects emerged within a year. It also explain the reasons for this dynamics which notably relies on dialogue. Based on two examples of bio-LNG stations which have been developed by means of investments of local communities (Pontivy and Monts-du-Lyonnais), the last article shows that such a development may result in further outgrowths for the produced gas
