Migration of tritium-labelled water in soils

Description
The migration of HTO-labelled water was studied in the soil of a radioactive waste storage site at Puespoekszilagy, Hungary, at a depth from 2.0 to 2.9 m. To characterize the velocity of water migration, a time-independent quantity, migration distance divided by the quantity of irrigation water, was chosen. Its value decreases from the initial 0.3 to 0.2 cm/l with the increase of the clay content of the soil. The mathematical model developed fits the experimental results adequately. (author)
