New subdwarf O star: LS 630

Creators

  • 1. European Southern Observatory, Santiago de Chile

Description

The star LS 630 has a typical O subdwarf spectrum with stark-broadened lines of neutral and ionized helium and a very prominent ultraviolet continuum. Although it is faint for detailed astrophysical studies, its low galactic latitude and reddening indicate an absolute magnitude equal to M/sub v/ = +5.3 +- 2
