Molybdenum (5) fluorochlorides

Description

MoF3Cl2 was produced by interacting molybdenum trifluoride with chlorine; the structure of the synthesized compound in the condensed phase is discussed on the basis of IR spectra and measurements of magnetic susceptibility. By the method of high-temperature mass-spectrometry it is ascertained that the saturated vapor over MoF3Cl2 (solid) is composed of monomeric (primarily MoFCl4, MoCl5), dimeric (Mosub(2)Fsub(10-n)Clsub(n), n=0...6) and trimeric (MoFsub(15-m)Clsub(m), m=0...7) molecules bound by fluorine bridge atoms
