Flaw detection in welds through X ray images processing

Description
The X-ray inspection of welds is a tedious and long work. Indeed, in order to declare the good quality of a weld, it is necessary to detect all the defects. No small cracks must be seen on the film by an experienced radiographer, who can use a magnifying glass, if it is necessary. In the other hand, as the inspection is a step in the manufacturing process, its duration has to be as short as possible. It is the main reason, for which this study has been done

Le controle radiographique des cordons de soudure est une tache longue et fastidieuse, puisqu'il importe de detecter de tres petits defauts. Pratiquement, un observateur tres experimente, muni d'une loupe s'il le faut, observe le film, sur lequel aucune crique ne doit etre visible. Le temps consacre a ce controle doit de plus etre aussi reduit que possible, pour ne pas ralentir le processus de fabrication.
