Structural state of α-iron single crystals after laser processing

Description

A study was made into the formation of γ-phase during laser processing of commercial iron. It is revealed that in α-iron single crystal under laser heating the recrystallization takes place which results in formation of BCC poly- and monocrystalline constituents with a lattice parameters corresponding to the initial one. It is also found that for a certain narrow range of laser beam energy density there is the possibility of formation of FCC phase with an increased lattice parameter
