Plasma synthesis of carbon nanowalls and their applications

Description

Carbon nanowalls have three-dimensional nanostructures made by the self-organization of two-dimensional carbon, where several to dozens of layers of multi-layer graphene grow almost perpendicularly on various substrates. There are reports of the synthesis on the substrate heated to about 600-700 deg C using various plasma CVD methods. Carbon nanowalls are characterized by their wide specific surface area and excellent conductivity, and are expected to be applied as batteries, capacitors, electrodes for biosensors or electrochemical sensors, etc. in combination with surface modification with metal nanoparticles or biomolecules. Abstract (Japanese)

カーボンナノウォールは,数層から数十層の多層グラフェンが基板にほぼ垂直に成長する2次元カーボンの自己組織的3次元ナノ構造体で,種々のプラズマ CVD法を用いて,600-700℃程度に加熱された様々な基板上への合成が報告されている.広い比表面積と導電性に優れているのが特徴で,金属ナノ粒子や生体分子などによる表面修飾と組み合わせて,電池やキャパシタ,バイオセンサや電気化学センサなどの電極としての応用が期待されている.(著者)
