Preparation of thorium 233, thorium 234 and their use as thorium tracer

Description
Suitability of various thorium-isotopes as radioactive tracer nuclides was exploited. Preparation of 233Th by thermal neutron activation using 252Cf-source and its γ-spectroscopic detection is described. - An extractionchromatographic method for 234Th-production has been developed and compared with some other methods. The method is based on separation of 234Th from uranyl salts using trioctylamine-impregnated polyurethane foam, as a cheap and readily available support-material, in 6M HCl medium. (orig.)
Abstract (German)
Die Eignung verschiedener Thoriumisotope als radioaktive Tracernuklide wurde untersucht. Die Darstellung von 233Th durch Bestrahlung mit thermischen Neutronen einer 252Cf-Quelle und dessen γ-spektrometrische Bestimmung wird beschrieben. - Eine extraktionschromatographische Methode zur 234Th-Gewinnung wurde entwickelt und mit den bekannten Verfahren verglichen. Diese Methode beruht auf der Trennung von 234Th aus Uranylsalzen mittels Tri-octylamin-impraegniertem Polyurethan-Schaumstoff als billiges und leicht zugaengliches Traegermaterial aus 6M HCl-saurer Loesung.
