Microscopic description of current distributions for collective excitations in spherical nuclei

Description

Self-consistent RPA calculations with the Skyrme-type interaction SGII have been used for a systematic study of the transition densities and convection currents associated with vibrational modes in 40Ca and 208Pb. The microscopic velocity fields display a large variety of flow patterns. Comparison with macroscopic fluid-dynamical models are also presented. (orig.)
