Short-ordered structure in amorphous structures

Description
A numerical investigation is made of some details of the short-range order in model amorphous structures (Fe, Cu) with free boundaries and a number of different interaction potentials. Five- and seven-member rings, which are typical features of amorphous structures, are found in all two-dimensional cross-sections of the generated clusters. Histograms of distribution of the nearest-neighbor numbers are constructed and analysis of the positions of atoms with different coordination numbers within a model cluster volume is performed. An evaluation is made of the effects of the boundary on the coordination number distribution
Abstract (Russian)
Численно исследованы детали ближнего порядка в аморфных модельных структурах (Fe, Cu) со свободной границей и с различными потенциалами взаимодействия. Во всех двумерных сечениях сгенерированных кластеров обнаружены пяти- и семичленные кольца - типичные признаки аморфности структур. Построены гистограммы распределения числа ближайших соседей и проведен анализ размещения атомов с различными координационными числами в объеме модельного кластера.
