Conceptual design of a superconducting toroidal magnet for the SDC detector
Description
Advanced Cryo Magnetics, Inc. has completed a conceptual design and preliminary cost estimate for the toroidal magnets required for the Solenoidal Detector of the Superconducting Super Collider. The objectives of the design were to fulfill the physics requirements, minimize the cost, and keep the fabrication as simple as possible. In addition, new technology requiring extensive development was avoided
