Description

The reprocessing of spent nuclear fuels has undergone several modifications to address the issues of high burn ups, fewer solvent extraction cycles, and reduced waste arisings. In this context, completely incinerable N,N-dihexyloctanamide (DHOA) has been identified as a promising alternative of tri-n-butyl phosphate for the reprocessing of spent nuclear fuels. The present work deals with the pulsed radiolytic investigation on the reactions of DHOA with the radicals produced in nitric acid medium and dodecane. The rate constants of the reactions of DHOA with solvated electron, hydroxyl radical, nitrate radical, and dodecane radicals have been measured and the transients have been characterized. The reactions of DHOA transients have also been studied (author)
