Protein and peptide dynamics at J-PARC: The challenges ahead

  • 1. Clarendon Laboratory, University of Oxford, Parks Road, Oxford OX1 3PU (United Kingdom)

Description

The suite of neutron spectrometers under construction or proposed for the Materials and Life Science Facility at J-PARC (Tokai, Ibaraki, Japan) will provide opportunities for strengthening and expanding research on the molecular dynamics of biomolecules. Following a brief discussion of the current state of work and the likely impact of fast spectrometers, this paper draws attention to the need for tackling some methodological problems, outlines problem areas opened up by the reduction in sample sizes, and addresses the potential for projects of biomedical and biotechnological relevance.
