Survey research forward actual use of fast breeder reactor recycling. A strategic survey research on its actual use
Description
This research aimed at preparation of a technical system to establish the fast breeder reactor (FBR) cycle capable of acquiring economy equal to that in electric sources of LWR cycle and so on as a future main energy source. The Phase 1 (about two years) of this research, in order to carry out investigations and evaluations with wide technical choices using innovative technique, to prepare some judging standards required for elucidation of actual use strategy, and to extract hopeful candidate concepts, was started since July, 1999 under the allover Japanese system by participation and co-operation of relative organizations such as electric businesses, the Central Research Institute of Electric Power Industry, the Japan Atomic Energy Research Institute, and so on, to put its results together at March, 2001. In the Phase 2 (about five years), it is planned to intend consistency as a whole of the FBR cycle on a base of engineering tests and so on, to arrange the candidate concepts, and to specify some essential researching theme. Here was described on establishment and investigation on developmental targets, extraction of actual use candidate concepts on hopeful FBR system and hopeful fuel cycle system, and the Phase 2 planning.
