Construction of the world's first full-scale fast breeder reactor

The 1200 MWe nuclear power station under construction at Creys-Malville in S.W. France contains the fast breeder reactor Super Phenix. A survey is presented which comprises six sections describing the following:- organisation; lay-out and main design; main safety features; design and development of main components; core structure and assemblies; site assembly and construction progress. A coloured cut-away pull-out wall-chart of the reactor and reactor buildings and a list of all main parameters are included. (UK)
