Retention by plants of technetium released into the environment in association with other radiopollutants

  • 1. CEA Centre d'Etudes Nucleaires de Cadarache, 13 - Saint-Paul-lez-Durance (France)

Description

A study of the absorption of technetium associated pairwise with uranium, americium and plutonium by Phaseolus sp. Experiments were made in a strictly controlled medium (nutrient solution) and in conditions close to natural (different soil types and lengths of time since deposition). The existence of an interaction between technetium and actinides is confined and hypotheses as to the mechanisms are put forward. (UK)
