Role of pyrogallol in nuclear emulsions development

  • 1. Commissariat a l'energie atomique et aux energies alternatives - CEA, Service de Physique Nucleaire, Saclay (France)

Description

A photographic developer made of a mixture of hydroquinone and pyrogallol has been tested. Ilford C2 plates irradiated at the Villejuif betatron have been used. Gamma radiation intensity (up to 22 MeV) has been measured with a graphite ionization chamber. Both superficial and in-depth developments show better results than with any other existing developers. Reprint of a paper published in 'Journal de Physique et le Radium', T. 15, July 1954, p. 587-588.
