Steady-state and AC impedance analysis of the molten carbonate fuel cell cathode
Description
AC impedance coupled with steady-state analysis has been employed to characterize the various processes in a molten carbonate fuel cell porous cathode. The analysis shows that the cathode is primarily under mixed kinetic-diffusion control at 6500C, except at very low rho/sub CO2/. At lower temperatures, kinetic control is approached. Oxygen appears to cause very little mass-transfer limitation compared to CO2. The reaction orders obtained are close to those predicted by the superoxide mechanism proposed in the literature
