Applications of AMS in the atmospheric and oceanographic sciences

Description
The ability of AMS to enable the determination of 14C concentrations in small samples has greatly extended the use of this radioisotope as an environmental tracer. We have developed a direct deposition technique as a quick and reliable method for producing graphite sample targets in the range 0.1-10 mg. We report preliminary results achieved with this in profiling bomb 14C in the southern ocean, and in sourcing atmospheric methane. (orig.)
