Description

The long-term continual monitoring of the Rn-222 in the outdoor atmosphere and in the indoor air of the typical Slovak office room have been carried out. The extensive set of the radon data were obtained. In both types of the atmosphere the radon activity concentrations show the similar seasonal variations with the maximum in winter and with the minimum in springtime till in beginning of the summer. The average daily courses of Rn-222 activity concentrations have a form of waves with maximum in the morning and minimum in the afternoon. On the basis of the measured radon activity concentrations the effective dose rate from radon was calculated. The radiation exposure from radon in outdoor atmosphere is more than one order of magnitude lower (0.06 mSv/year) than in indoor air (0.7 mSv/year). (authors)
