  • 1. Malaysian Nuclear Agency, Bangi, 43000 Kajang, Selangor (Malaysia), Planning and International Relations Div.

Description

Agensi Nuklear Malaysia (Nuklear Malaysia) was established in 1972 to promote the peaceful use of nuclear science and technology for the development of the country. Nuclear science and technology have developed in many sectors, including industry, healthcare, food and agriculture, natural resources, energy, and nuclear safety and security through research, development, commercialization and innovation (RDCI). Scientific progress through RDI activities has a great impact on the progress of nuclear technology. Currently, new demands placed on public RandD infrastructure are also affecting government research priority areas. the government believes that a long-term science and technology policy is important and needs to be established to increase the economic competitiveness of a country. therefore, to concentrate resources and achieve optimal economic and social benefits, strategic research areas and new technologies should be identified. Technology foresight can be used as one of the methods to identify strategic research areas and new technologies in nuclear technology at the Malaysian Nuclear Agency with the involvement of scientists, industry members, government officials, and others. This paper proposes a conceptual framework for technological foresight and implementation stages to be implemented at the Malaysian Nuclear Agency. It is hoped that through this proposal, Nuklear Malaysia can bridge the gap in the use of nuclear technology in the social and economic sectors by collaborating with industry, communities and relevant government agencies to match products, technologies and services.
