Possible surface mechanism of dislocation formation during helium single crystal growth

  • 1. AN Ukrainskoj SSR, Kharkov. Fiziko-Tekhnicheskij Inst. Nizkikh Temperatur

Description

A hypothesis of an existence of a peculiar surface mechanism of dislocation formation during helium single crystal growth associated with the phase diagram specific character has been put forward. This leads to the formation of the high density of dislocations in solid helium in the process of its growth under conditions as much as possible close to equilibrium conditions and permits to explain regularities of the internal friction in solid helium using the Granate and Lyukke theory without involving peculiar dislocation properties
