Response to 'Comment on 'An alternative analysis of some recent diffusion experiments on the large plasma device'' [Phys. Plasmas 15, 074701 (2008)]

Description
We respond to the issues raised in the comment by Maggs and Carter. Our simple model still elucidates the basic physics involved in their experiment. The key point is that, in their geometry, any estimate of the radial ion-diffusion coefficient requires one to evaluate a very small difference of two large quantities, neither of which can be accurately measured or calculated. We stand by our original conclusion that one cannot, with any confidence, state that Bohm diffusion has been observed in the large plasma device experiment.
