Description
The SPIN program was initiated at CEA in answer to the December 1991 law concerning radioactive waste management. It is divided into two parts. Puretex is designed to reduce the volume and activity of the waste and to recycle the radioactive materials in the Purex process. It consists of projects that COGEMA, the industrial operator, puts into application. Actinex aims at assessing the feasibility and the impact, at medium and long term, of the separation and transmutation of actinides and specific fission products. (authors)
