Nuclear reactor cooled by a liquid metal capable of transmitting ultrasonic signals

Description

The liquid metal cooled nuclear reactor described includes an ultrasonic transducer assembly to generate and receive signals, and a system to form a liquid waveguide for transmitting signals to and from a cooling liquid bath. The waveguide formation system includes a vertical dip tube housing the transducer assembly, an apparatus to suck up a column of liquid metal from the bath into the tube in several stages and a system for cooling the upper part of the column between the cooling stages and before the transducer assembly is immersed

Abstract (French)

On presente un reacteur nucleaire refroidi par un metal liquide qui comprend un ensemble a transducteur ultrasonore destine a creer et recevoir des signaux et un dispositif destine a former un guide d'onde liquide de transmission des signaux vers un bain de fluide de refroidissement et a partir de ce bain. Le dispositif de formtion d'un guide d'onde comprend un tube plongeur vertical logeant l'ensemble a transducteur, un appareil d'aspiration d'une colonne de metal liquide du bain dans le tube en plusieurs etapes, et un dispositif de refroidissement de la region superieure de la colonne entre les etapes de refroidissement et avant immersion de l'ensemble a transducteur
