I. Simulation of a fast trigger using the time projection chamber of Delphi experiment at Cern. II. Selection of events e+e- → tantit (in Delphi) at the Z0 pole
Description
Three different aspects are reviewed in this work with the follow subjects: in the first part we propose a review of the possible physics at the Z0 pole in the e+e-(LEP) collider at CERN. After that we give a detailed description of the Delphi detector used for the work presented here. The second part contains the study and the simulation of a fast trigger (35μs) using the TPC of Delphi. Parameters concerning the selection of real events and the rejection of the background are introduced to estimate the trigger's efficiency. At last, in the third part we propose a discrimination method based on a multidimensional analysis, for the t (top) events selection at the Z0 energy, using generated events from the Lund Monte-Carlo. Using the Delphi detector we introduce constraints of detection, in view to obtain realistic events for the simulation
Abstract (French)
On a aborde dans cette these trois aspects differents de travaux pouvant etre separes de la facon suivante: dans la premiere partie, on propose une revue de la physique possible au pole du Z0 dans le cadre du collisionneur e+e- (LEP) au CERN. Ensuite on donne une description detaillee du detecteur Delphi autour duquel ont ete effectues les travaux presentes ici. En deuxieme partie, on expose l'etude ainsi que la simulation d'un trigger rapide (35μs) utilisant la TPC de Delphi. Pour ceci un certain nombre de parametres, concernant la selection des evenements physiques ainsi que la rejection du bruit de fond, sont etudies pour etablir l'efficacite du trigger. Enfin en troisieme partie on propose une methode de discrimination basee sur une analyse multidimensionnelle, ayant pour but la separation des evenements t (top) des autres a l'energie du Z0, utilisant des evenements generes par le Monte-Carlo de Lund sur lesquels on a impose certaines contraintes dues a la detection par l'intermediaire du detecteur DelphiFiles
