Description

The Refuna lower Aare valley district heat supply undertaking delivers nuclear power station heat through a hot water pipe line network to 500 consumers in eight communities. System construction and performance progress since 1983 leading to the present 32000 kW heat output is described. Future system extension will provide 70000 kW peak heat power to an increased number of consumers. The network includes three reserve heat generating installations for continuity of supply in the event of power station output heat exchanger plant failure, and a transportable 2600 kW heat generator is available for local emergency use. Domestic terminal installations for upto 100 kW heat load are discussed, and have export potential. (H.V.H.)
