Complete experiment in beta-decay and problem of right-handed currents

  • 1. I.V. Kurchatov Institute of Atomic Energy, Moscow (USSR)

Description

Within the framework of the manifestly left-right symmetric model SU(2)LxSU(2)RxU(1) we have made an analysis of the complete experiment in beta-decay, which includes: the data on neutron half life, on beta decay asymmetry correlation coefficient, on beta and neutrino asymmetry coefficients from polarized neutron decay, on the antineutrino polarization, estimated from cross section of the inverse beta-decay on proton, and on the positron polarization in beta-transitions of nuclei. The information on the right-handed currents is connected with three parameters: the ratio of squared masses of two WLR-bosons, the mixing angle and the magnitude of the axial constant renormalization, which in the absence of the right-handed currents should recover the known constant λ = gA/gV. The joint treatment of the whole set of the above mentioned experiments yields the following bounds on these parameters
