On the intensification of low-temperature radiation polymerization by oxygen

  • 1. AN SSSR, Chernogolovka. Inst. Khimicheskoj Fiziki

Description

γ-radiation post-polymerization of tetrafluoroethylene has been performed to experimentally prove the high inducing capacity of oxygen under low-temperature radiolysis. In this case, post-polimerization of tetrafluoroethylene may be due solely to effective initiation of the process by ozone-tetrafluoroethylene reaction products. The suggestion is made that the mechanism of polymerization initiation via the reaction products of C=C-ozone which forms at oxygen radiolysis, may play a substantial role at even higher temperatures
