Burn and wear resistance of the medium carbon one-element alloyed steels
Description
The properties of steels alloyed by one element are investigated. In testing resistance to burnability samples were heated in a lead bath up to the temperature of 600 deg C and cooled in water from 50 to 80 deg C. The experiments show that chromium, tungsten and molybdenum added to steel increase resistance to burnability. Aluminium, silicon and nickel have practically no effect on it, but copper and manganese decrease it. All alloying elements and especially tungsten, molybdenum, chromium, aluminium increase wear resistance of medium-carbon steels. It is shown that the effect of aluminizing elements on wear resistance depends on experimental conditions and the form of wear
