Sorption of thorium from aqueous solution by transition-metal isopolyacid and heteropolyacid alkylammonium salts. II. Throium sorption isotherms for alkyltrimethylammonium
Creators
Description
Results are presented on the accumulation of thorium from aqueous solution by sorption by alkyltrimethylammonium molybdates in relation to the initial concentration and the content of the sorbent. It is found that the isotherms have turning points and belong to the class of isotherms characterized by high affinity between the sorbate and sorbent. The position of the maximum has been used to calculate the composition of the coordination compound formed by interaction of thorium with the molybdate ions, which corresponds to [Th2Mo6O24]4-; the initial part of the thorium sorption isotherm is described by a parabola. There is an inverse proportional relationship between the capacity of the sorbent for thorium and the content of the solid phase in the solution
