Spent fuel dry-type storage facility
Description
The inside of a storage chamber for storing spent fuel sealing vessels is shut off from the outside, and a flow channel for flowing a cooling medium passing from the outside through the inner side and leading to the outside again is formed. The gases in the storage chamber are replaced with rare gases, nitrogen or carbon dioxide, and air or water is used as the cooling medium. In addition, a pump for flowing the cooling medium to the flow channel is disposed. The flow channel comprises a metal tube, and spent fuel sealing vessels are placed thereon and stored. Even when leakage of radioactive materials from the fuel sealing vessels should occur, release of the radioactive materials to the outside is prevented. In addition, after heat of the spent fuels can be released efficiently to the outside. Since oxygen in the gases is reduced remarkably and the oxidative reaction of containing vessels and the fuel sealing vessels is reduced, the spent fuels can be stored safely for a long period of time.
