Study of bounding cases for primary to secondary leakage for VVER-1000/V320
- 1. Institute for Nuclear Research and Nuclear Energy Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Sofia (Bulgaria)
Description
This paper presents the results of bounding cases for "Steam Generator Tube Rupture" (SGTR) for VVER‑1000/V320 units at Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant (KNPP), done during the development of Symptom Based Emergency Operating Procedures (SB EOPs) for this plant. The purpose of the analyses is to demonstrate successful cooldown of reactor coolant system (RCS) by natural circulation with only one steam generator (SG) using the letdown system and cooldown by natural circulation utilizing a damaged SG. The calculation demonstrates an effective strategy for preventing any secondary radiological release to the environment. The results of the thermal-hydraulic analyses have been used to assist KNPP specialists in analytical validation of EOPs. Key words: nuclear power plant safety, thermal hydraulics, VVER type reactor, horizontal steam generator, steam generator tube rupture
