Results of the operative treatment of mamma carcinoma

Statistic tests were made of 492 operated patients having mamma carcinoma with regard to the therapeutical effect of post-operative irradiation. 204 female patients with metastatic mamma carcinoma (K I) and 118 female patients with no metastatic mamma carcinoma (K III) were post-operatively irradiated. 28 female patients with metastatic mamma carcinoma (K II) and 142 female patients with no metastatic mamma carcinoma (K IV) were not post-operatively irradiated. From the significantly low relapse frequency in general, the significantly low local and late relapse frequency in the special case and from the at least equivalent survival probability of group IV compared to group III, it can be seen that the post-operative irradiation of patients without metastatic mamma carcinoma has rather a negative therapeutical effect. Based on the small number of cases in group II, the question of whether the post-operative irradiation of patients with metastatic mamma carcinoma are of therapeutical advantage or disadvantage, could not be answered. 492 operierte Patientinnen mit Mammacarcinom wurden hinsichtlich des therapeutischen Effekts der postoperativen Bestrahlung einer statistischen Pruefung unterzogen. 204 Patientinnen mit metastasiertem Mammacarcinom (KI) und 118 Patientinnen mit nicht metastasiertem Mammacarcinom (K III) wurden postoperativ nachbestrahlt. 28 Patientinnen mit metastasiertem Mammacarcinom (K II) und 142 Patientinnen mit nicht metastasiertem Mammacarcinom (K IV) wurden nicht postoperativ nachbestrahlt. Aus der signifikant niedrigeren Rezidivhaeufigkeit im Allgemeinen, der signifikant niedrigeren Lokal- und Spaetrezidivhaeufigkeit im Speziellen und der zumindest aequivalenten Ueberlebenswahrscheinlichkeit des Kollektivs IV im Vergleich zum Kollektiv III ergibt sich, dass sich die postoperative Bestrahlung bei Patientinnen mit nicht metastasiertem Mammacarcinom eher therapeutisch nachteilig auswirkt. Aufgrund der kleinen Fallzahl im Kollektiv II kann die Frage nicht beantwortet werden, ob die postoperative Bestrahlung bei Patientinnen mit metastasiertem Mammacarcinom einen therapeutischen Vorteil oder Nachteil darstellt.
