Linear effect of electric field on the magnetization processes in ferrite-garnet films

Description

The problem of electric field effect on the processes of magnetization of magnetic films with single-axis anisotropy is experimentally and theoretically investigated. Experimental investigations are performed using epitaxial ferrite-garnet films (YBi)3(FeGa)5O12 by means of precision optical polarimetry. Restricted linear by electrical field effect both in the region of magnetic domain wall movement and in the region of magnetization rotation is detected. These results serve as the first unambiguous proof of the existence of an area in the films, where there is no inversion centers. The problem concerning the electrical field effect on the magnetization processes is theoretically solved in the assumption that electrical field linearly effects the single-axis anisotropy constant value as well as the position of light magnetization axis. A good agreement between experimental and theoretic results is obtained
