Radiation hardening of metals under heavy ions bombardment
- 1. Joint Inst. for Nuclear Research, Dubna (USSR)

Description
A study was made on the effect of dose and temperature of irradiation by 124 MeV xenon ions on mechanical properties and microstructure of copper, nickel, vanadium and aluminium. It was established that irradiation by heavy ions leads to radiation hardening with dose dependence tending to saturation. Decrease of hardening is observed beginning from 200 deg C irradiation temperature at the dose, corresponding to hardening effect saturation
