Description

Mammography is a specific type of breast imaging that uses low dose X-ray to detect cancer in early stage when it is most treatable stage before patients experience symptoms. The MX-13 mammography equipment is a mammography built by PRFN-BATAN which utilizes pulse width modulation (PWM) technique to control high voltage supply to X-ray tube. In conventional mammography, high voltage power supply is controlled by autotransformer which has big dimension and heavy. By using PWM technique, it can reduce weight and dimension of high voltage power supply module of mammography equipment. PWM pulses are produced by microcontroller. They are used to vary voltages which are fed to primary side of high voltage transformator. The test result shows that the PWM can produce the voltage proportional to its duty cycle and it can be used to control high voltage power supply in the MX-13 mammography equipment. (author)
