Gamma-ray spectroscopic study of 101Ag

  • 1. Vrije Univ., Amsterdam (Netherlands). Natuurkundig Lab.

Description

Excited states in 101Ag have been investigated using the 102Pd(p,2nγ), 92Mo(12C,p2nγ) and the 102Pd(3He,p3nγ) reactions and employing standard γ-ray spectroscopic techniques. In addition to the known negative-parity multiplet structure built on top of the 1/2- isomeric state, a set of 17 new levels was found presumably with positive parity. Definite spin and parity assignments in the range of 11/2+ - 23/2+ could be made for 7 levels and tentative assignments for 5 levels. All these levels decay subsequently to the 9/2+ ground state. A comparison of the level structure and decay properties of the 101-107Ag isotopes reveals a distinct decrease of collectivity in the approach towards the closed N = 50 shell. (orig.)
