Uncemented Spotorno hip endoprostheses

Description
From 1984 till 1988 we implanted 404 Spotorno hip endoprostheses in Heidelberg. We report on a postoperative follow-up study of 210 endoprostheses for one to four years and a mean average of 2,5 years. 95% had no pain at all. X-ray examination didn't show any cortical hypertrophy of the femur at the height of the lower end of the stem. This assures the idea of proximal load induction on the femur. (orig.)
Abstract (German)
Von 1984 bis 1988 wurden in der Orthopaedischen Universitaetsklinik Heidelberg 404 Spotorno-Hueftendoprothesen implantiert. 210 Hueftgelenke konnten nach ein bis vier Jahren mit einer mittleren Kontrollzeit von 2,5 Jahren nachuntersucht werden. 95% zeigten gute und sehr gute Ergebnisse. Die Roentgenbilder ergaben keine Kortikalishypertrophie in Hoehe der Prothesenspitze, womit das Konzept der proximalen trochanteren Krafteinleitung bestaetigt wurde. (orig.)Additional details
