Survey of Techniques Used to Examine the Structure of Silicon Carbide Coating Layers
Description
A survey of some of the parameters examined to characterise silicon carbide coating layer structures in relation to its role as an interlayer in TRISO H.T.R. fuel particles has been attempted. Much of the paper is devoted to examining current and new methods of etching silicon carbide as a means of revealing coating layer structures. A comparison is made between true etch and epitaxial effects. In addition strength and density of silicon carbide coating layers are discussed briefly. (author)
