Damping of electromagnetic ion cyclotron waves through collisions of ions and electrons with neutrals

Description

The damping of electromagnetic ion cyclotron waves is studied for the case in which these waves are propagating perpendicular or nearly perpendicular to the external magnetic field in a plasma. The damping rates are derived with allowance for collisions of ions and electrons with neutral particles of the plasma. Collisional damping is the primary dissipation mechanism under these conditions
