Hydrodynamic studies of the nova outburst

Description

Hydrostatic studies have shown that a thermonuclear runaway will occur in the hydrogen-rich material accumulated on the surface of a degenerate star. Results of earlier studies are used to obtain models for calculations which show that the resulting thermonuclear runaway produces a nova outburst; the characteristics of this outburst depending on the carbon-oxygen abundance in the envelope
