The spectroscopy and photolytic decomposition of some volatile uranium compounds

Description
Methods for the separation of uranium isotopes in volatile compounds are reviewed, and derivatives of thenoyltrifluoroacetone and of the tetrahydroborates are chosen for further study. IR and UV spectra, thermal decomposition and photolytic decomposition by UV light, photochemical stability using continuous wave lasers of uranium tetrahydroborate were examined and the suitability of these compounds for laser isotope separation considered.
